Rights you are entitled to under the Mentally Disabled in the Community Rehabilitation Law

This time, we will not deal with the contribution and activities of the Shvim Association, but rather focus on the rights you are entitled to under the Rehabilitation of the Mentally Disabled in the Community Law, which was enacted in 2000. The purpose of the law is to enable the rehabilitation of people dealing with a mental disability and their integration into the community. Eligibility for a rehabilitation program is determined by a regional rehabilitation committee and is called a rehabilitation basket.

What areas does the law cover?

In addition to treatment and professional mental health assistance, the law also includes support for completing education, holding and maintaining housing, locating, guiding, and adapting a place of employment, family support, and more.
It is important to note here that although the law is already twenty years old, since then, there have been developments and expansions of the legal framework to other areas of life in order to promote your integration into the free labor market and your return to a normative life framework.

"Rehabilitation Basket" Rights

Housing

One of the main tools designed to improve the skills for normative and independent living in the community for people dealing with mental disabilities is housing. The supportive housing services provided as part of the rehabilitation basket are designed to enable adequate and respectful housing conditions. Everything is done while providing support, assistance and maintaining regular contact with community services.

Assistance in purchasing initial residential equipment

Housing is originally intended for living, but that is not enough. Conducting oneself in the place of residence is one of the means of promoting individual rehabilitation programs in various areas of functioning. And to enable you to conduct yourself as independently as possible in your residential apartment, financial assistance is provided for the purchase of basic equipment for living in the community.

Employment

All the content of the Shvim Association's website deals with this issue. And yet, within the framework of the list of rights, it is impossible not to give it a few lines of respect. This service allows for employment that is tailored to your desires and abilities within the framework and as part of the rehabilitation processes. The range of options ranges from a pre-employment stage to employment in the free market, all with an emphasis on normative and rewarding employment as much as possible.

Education

The Education Completion Service is designed to help you realize your academic abilities and complete your education according to your skills and desires. In addition, there is the Academic Mentoring Channel. This is a support service for university students pursuing an academic degree. The service includes 4 hours of professional mentoring in the field of study and a professional coordinator at the university who accompanies and supports you throughout your time as a student.

Social life and leisure time

Social life and leisure content are essential to the mental rehabilitation process in general and to occupational rehabilitation in particular. The goal of social rehabilitation is to learn and acquire social skills, provide knowledge and independence in the field, provide a sense of belonging, alleviate loneliness, create contact and integrate into the community. To this end, there is a leisure culture program that offers a variety of opportunities and activities for you to choose from.

Coordination of rehabilitation programs in the community

To help you be more active in building your rehabilitation plans and defining the personal goals you want to achieve, the Rehabilitation for Mentally Injured Law allows you to have the assistance of a treatment coordinator who will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the provision of all services provided by the District Rehabilitation Basket Committee.

Assistance to families of mentally injured people

Family members also face quite a few difficulties. First of all, they worry, and worry weighs heavily on the mind and body. They are busy with daily tasks, searching for the right help, treatment, supervision, and assistance. Moreover, the emotional burden on them is heavy and burdensome. In order to make things easier for family members, the Ministry of Health has established counseling centers for families that provide information and support through individual and group counseling, lectures, and workshops.

Dental treatments

Yes, the rehabilitation system has also been involved in this medical field and has taken care, as part of the rehabilitation basket, to assist you in financing oral rehabilitation. Assistance is provided at the rates used in clinics for those in need only, as determined in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. The assistance involves your financial participation.
